In life science it can be used to measure things such as the rate of cell division, pressure, or to estimate probability of things like genetics.

"Some Bottled Water Not So Pure"

The recent quality test of bottled water has revealed that our reliable drinkable water source is not as clean as we believed it to be. The tests showed signs of many pollutants in commercialized water , these pollutants include bacteria, fertilizer (nitrates), industrial chemicals, and chemical byproducts. The bottled water industry needs to be more regulated and have regular quality checks. Tap water isn't that much dirtier after all.
