Cognition

Learning, especially for humans, is a great evolutionary advantage. Also known as cognition, learning can be achieved through different methods. These methods include reinforcement and punishment, classical conditioning, and operant conditioning. Things that are learned are stored in the memory.

Ramachandran

One of Ramachandran's more famous experiments is the "phantom limb". A phantom limb is a psychological phenomenon that happens when a amputee have feelings and sensations in their missing limb. Phantom limb patients would often report an intense clenching feeling in their non-existent hand or feeling sensations in their missing limb when another part of the body is stimulated. To resolve this problem, Ramachandran used a mirror box.

Reproduction

I'm not quite sure exactly what I learned about reproduction in class. I guess I learned more about the psychological and physiological mechanisms of reproduction.

Reproductive System Dissection

After seeing this dissection, the last video is starting to seem very tolerable. I had witnessed a man getting castrated and a woman getting her ovaries pulled out of her. That guy with the hat still seems suspicious, he looks like he enjoys cutting people's testicles off. I didn't learned much from the video because i couldn't bear to watch it. I guess I learned how it looks like to get castrated.

Urine as a Diagnostic Tool

Urine can used to measure ones health in many ways. It can be checked for color, specific gravity, and salinity. Diseases like bladder infections can be detected through urine. Darker colors and higher density means inadequate amounts of water.

Pig Dissection

While mildly disgusting, the fetal dissection was interesting and fun. At first I was confused about what parts to cut, but it was no longer a problem later on. I found it interesting that we were dissecting and examining something that had anatomical similarities to a human being.

Digestive System Video

The dissection video was quite disturbing. I could not help but to think that the guy with the hat had killed someone the day before and used them for the video. I learned all the parts of the digestive system- where the food travels and where it is broken down and absorbed. It was interesting to see the whole digestive system elongated, as it was longer than I had expected.
